DGA Threads

Vendor Biography

About the Founder of DGA Threads: Giuseppe De Giosa (Pino) Giuseppe De Giosa (Pino), a career banker, grew up in the lush landscape of Puglia, Italy. Pino developed an appreciation for the creative arts, antiquities, and textiles when working in London, mid-80s. And finally, fell completely in love with Japanese Ikat (Kasuri), various techniques of Shibori(Tie-Dye) and the wide range of antique Japanese silk textiles. Pino has amassed, over twenty years, original Japanese hand stitched garments. This, then, was the base for his DGA Threads, in Singapore, from 2016. DGA Threads is in the quaint district of Eng Hoon St in Tiong Bahru, where antique Japanese rolls of fabric and kimonos /jackets find their home. Pino’s creations go through his attentive observation of the textiles, their qualities, symbolism of the design and colours before being handed over to the skilful hands of local tailors for the sewing. Thus, art is at work when Pino is processing his thoughts to bring a new life to the textiles in DGA Threads’ inventory.
